Week 5 Crates and Barrels

 Week 5 Crates and Barrels

CrateFlyThrough

For this week, I was tasked with baking, texturing, and then creating a final render in Unreal Engine 5. This is my final render of the Crash Bandicoot crate. The most difficult part for me was the baking. The texture is a bright gradient to match the reference.  I created a video for the extra credit!

Week 04 Crates and Barrels

 Week 4 Crates and Barrels

For this assignment, I created the game mesh for the crate. It is around 500 polygons. The poly count is very low to help optimize it in a game engine. It is modeled to fit over the shape of the high poly created in ZBrush. This crate was rendered in Maya.

Week 03 Crates and Barrels

 Week 03 Crates and Barrels

For this week, I took the crate and put it into Zbrush to create a high res. I downloaded the Orb brush pack and used a lot of the brushes from it. The poly count is around 1 million after decimating. The most difficult part for me was poly painting since it wasn't covered very much in the tutorials.

Week 2 Crates and Barrels

 Week 2: Crates and Barrels

For this assignment I created a block-out of a crate in Maya. I chose the Crash Bandicoot crate for my reference. I like how it has a more wonky and curved shape than the other crates. The top image is the Unreal render. The bottom image is a wireframe render in Maya. I couldn't figure out how to make the background lighter in Maya. Since the background is dark, I made the wireframe light so that it would stand out.

Meet Mat Assignment

For this assignment, I themed the character around the game Lethal Company. Lethal Company is a co-op multiplayer game where the player travels to different moons to gather items to sell to The Company to meet profit quota. I textured MeetMat to look like The Employee, who is the player character.

I utilized a lot of layers to create the body. The main orange color is a gradient made with a generator. The leather gloves, boots, and belts are each separate layers with varying heights. I used a mask and the poly fill tool to create the belt around the waist to ensure that it is a smooth line. I then erased a few parts of it to make it look like the belt is a part of the outfit. The head and bottom are both metal materials that I made.
